Dear Diary,

From Monday through Friday I make sure to leave room in my morning routine to create my-go to smoothie before I run out the door.  With out it, I’m screwed… work is unbearable!  The simplest tasks, that should take only minutes, end up taking hours;  I’m hungry, weak, can’t concentrate… and will probably end of sprinting to the vending machines for a less than healthy or satisfying food fix.  You get the picture; my morning smoothie is essential to a healthy, happy… and did I mention productive… start to my week day.  But often on the weekends, when I have more time, I end up ditching my smoothie for a more brunch worthy meal–  eggs, pancakes…  delicious, yes.  But often I feel more sluggish and lazy all day long… the smoothie I make every week day morning is filled with greens, fruit, and proteins, but who wants to slurp down a smoothie when they have time for a full-feeling meal!?

That being said… my discovery of the smoothie bowl has changed my weekend morning routine for the better!  A smoothie bowl, or what I like to call, a smoothie soup, is a delicious way to EAT your smoothie instead.  This vibrant concoction is just as delicious as it looks, and with endless fruits and vegetables to choose from– your smoothie bowl creations are limitless!

I made these two bowls this past Sunday morning; his and hers.  Try these two recipes for yourself, and feel free to experiment as well!  Share with us what you made… comment on the blog! ;)

ACAI JUMP-START BOWL:

for the soup… combine in a blender…

1 cup of almond milk

1 spoonful of acai powder

4 ice cubes

1 frozen banana

pour into a bowl and add whatever toppings you like!

I added fresh raspberries, blueberries, bananas and some cashew nuts

GREEN BOOST BOWL:

for the soup… combine in a blender…

1/2 cup of almond milk

1 spoonful of spirulina powder

4 ice cubes

1/2 frozen banana

a dash of agave

handful of green leaves (kale works well in this ;)

1/2 cup of greek yogurt

pour into a bowl and add whatever toppings you like!

I added fresh mango, strawberries, blueberries, a sprinkling of chia seeds, and the other half of the banana!

Both of these recipes are so delicious, filling, beautiful, and a great start to a lazy weekend morning!  Happy “sip”– I mean “eating” SFG’s!

    I ran into the same problem where only a couple days a week I had to leave the house early, and it was those days that I had a smoothie on the road and the other days I would have eggs…..and there was a difference! ! It was like SFG read my mind!! Now I can sit down and relax with my smoothie bowl on the other days and feel just as energized! ! I even did it on a snow day!! Thank you ☺
