Lost your boyfriend to Football? How to get him back… with HOT WINGS

Dear Diary,

I LOVE FOOTBALL!!!!! Honestly, I do!  Okay, I lied… I don’t.  I just said that I liked it so you wouldn’t think I was crazy for not liking the number one watched sport in America.  It’s not that I hate the game… but now that the season is well on its way  I’ve come to the conclusion that I have once again lost my boyfriend to football for the next five months.  Yesterday, I awoke at 930 in the morning to my boyfriends frantic shrieking… his eyes were glued to the television, his computer and our ipad (each screen displaying a different game of course…)

I’ll admit… sometimes on football sunday I just want to strangle him with my oven mittens!  :)

You know the saying… all good things must come to an end.  So while I loved the attentive, fit  and active boyfriend I had this summer, I will learn to once again appreciate this version… you know, the excessive beer-drinking, couch potato version… so this football season I decided to embrace the sport– I bought my first jersey– go titans!!! (my bf’s team) and I started preparing fun football food that wont add on the pounds… something him and I will both be grateful for come this Spring.

I went to a nearby farmers market where the food is local, organic and less expensive than major super markets like Whole Foods– I picked up some organic chicken wings– just knowing that the meat I’m eating is hormone free, grass-fed and humanely treated makes a difference in how I feel mentally and physically– plus it tastes better!

Why chicken wings?  Well because it’s the perfect bar food of course! :)  But mine are baked, not fried and contain the simplest ingredients… my motto: the less processed foods you can eat the better!

Rinse the chicken and pat down with a paper towel– they will have some skin and fat on them– feel free to trim that down!

then sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and olive oil– rub them down and let sit for at least 10 minutes (sorry that I don’t have exact measurements… let’s just say add each ingredient for a about 3 mississippi seconds– or about a teaspoon)

place on a baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 50 minutes

they will come out deliciously baked!  not fried like most chicken wings

I then drizzled on organic hot sauce— with only 8 ingredients (all of which I can pronounce)

for a dipping sauce instead of blue cheese (most blue cheese dips are high in calories) — I used my favorite yogurt dip– just greek yogurt, combined with feta (for that extra kick of creamy tang), lemon, salt, pepper, shallots, and chives and you’ve got a great football snack!

These wings were SO DELICIOUS!  a huge hit with my boyfriend and his friends– so extra points (or touchdowns) for me!!
