Dear Diary,

It’s officially the most wonderful time of the year! The holiday season is full of some of the most delicious and decadent treats I wait all year for!  That’s including some of my holiday favorites from Starbucks… While I crave their treats like the PEPPERMINT MOCHA… I don’t often get it… between the calories and processed sugars, I’ll stick to my regular coffee thanks.

Did you know that the Starbuck’s Peppermint Mocha contains over 400 calories?  Now I’m all for indulging, but not with your coffee… here’s my recipe for a healthier twist on the classic Peppermint Mocha… and oh yeah, it’s all natural and less than half the calories… your welcome!

START WITH A SHOT… OR TWO… OF ESPRESSO

NEXT: CREATE A SIMPLE SYRUP

boil 1 cup of water with 1 cup of Stevia (no calorie natural sweetener), 2 tbsp of Peppermint Extract

When cool, add a couple of tablespoons to the espresso & store the rest in the fridge for another time!

For that rich chocolate flavor, add one tablespoon of cacao!

peppermint mocha post 022Here’s where you can get creative… want to REALLY indulge?  I used all natural whipped cream as a topper & some cacao nibs for texture!

Rather skip the whip?  Just use half & half, almond or skim milk and it’s equally delicious!
